59/365: A New Favorite Place

Occasionally, Dustin or I will disappear for a few minutes and we learn that we were sitting in the nursery. Of course, the glider is very comfortable, but it's also fun to just sit in our sweet baby's room and day dream.

Riley and Grayson like to visit too...

57/365: Tummy Tuesday

Tummy Tuesday! Today marks 36 weeks. One more week and we'll have a full-term baby cookin'!

We're ready for you baby girl!

I loved the idea of this shot too, but it turns out my belly isn't as noticeable at this angle. Doesn't make sense for Tummy Tuesday, now does it?!

56/365: Macro Monday

Just kidding. I didn't take a macro today. Maybe Wednesday or Thursday when I'm struggling to find a picture to take.

I pass patches of this grass throughout my commutes (yes, that's plural on purpose)... I have no idea what this grass is, per say, but there are exactly two spots of these bunches of grass that grab the sunlight perfectly. One patch is bathed by the sunrise and one is bathed by the sunset. I've been waiting to take pictures of one of these patches for weeks and growing impatient as I have no idea if this grass will transform with the seasons.

Today, on my ride home, I was determined to get a shot. It was a winter sky that had sun shining bright, but parts of the sky were dark. The "no reason" kind of dark. No snow, no rain, just clouds. I love the contrast this has. When I approached the grass, the sun was hiding and I was almost let down, but it came back out for a few minutes, and I got some awesome shots.

What I love about this project, is that it's not only a great way to document a year, but to also experiment with different images to find my style. I really took advantage of this today. I changed my settings several times.

The winner of the picture of the day is this gem... chosen by Dustin because I couldn't decide.

Here are some more that I just love....

Which one is your favorite?

55/365: Honey Do...

With a baby on the way, you can imagine (or know first hand) the extensive "to do" list of things around the house. It seems like every time we check something off the list, we add on one more thing!

Fortunately, all the big ticket items are crossed off: the den, the nursery, even working on finishing the basement. Despite these huge accomplishments, there's always something small... like a door knob.

I have noticed that our cat, Grayson, has been opening the nursery door at least daily; it's not latching right. Obviously, this is something we need to get fixed as I certainly don't want G visiting our sleeping baby in her crib! So, this morning I made a passing comment to Dustin along the lines of "We need to fix that door knob, but no rush because the baby probably won't be sleeping in her crib for a few weeks after she's born anyway."

Don't you know, Dustin goes out today and not only gets a new door knob for the nursery door, but enough to change out all the knobs upstairs to match the ones we put in downstairs? Man, am I a lucky lady to have such a handy and amazingly wonderful husband.

53/365: Farm Friday

It's an overcast ugly Friday. Though many of the farms I pass are beautiful, none of them look as beautiful as they do with the sun shining on them! I attempted one farm shot, but got spooked away when the owner started coming down the driveway. (I felt like a criminal fleeting away!). So, I grabbed this shot, a barn close to home. I had to shoot it from across the street. Not being super photoshop savvy, I tried to eliminate the telephone pole and wires in the way, but ended up with a really choppy looking photo, so this is what you get... oh well! The 365 is meant for learning.

And here's a shot of this morning's sunrise. Too magnificant not to share!

52/365: Where's the Baby?

I was sitting in the nursery doing a couple things when Riley came to join me. It's hard to tell if he knows I'm pregnant - they say animals can tell, but I'm not so sure about Riley. So, I asked him "Where's the baby?" His ears perked and he was searching frantically around the room, of course with no baby found. He'd then look to me with this adorable face as if saying, "I can't find her!"

The way he was looking for her tonight may have convinced me that he has a tiny bit of that doggy intuition people have been talking about!

50/365: Tummy Tuesday

It's Tummy Tuesday.... again! The weeks are flying; today marks 35 weeks. We are ready for baby! All I really need to do is pack a hospital bag and we're set to go. I wonder how many more Tummy Tuesdays we'll get... any guesses?

49/365: Macro Monday

I just love all the books our baby girl has been given for her library! Especially this one from her Aunt Shan.

48/365: Baby Prep

Yet another weekend has been spent preparing for baby girl's arrival. I suppose we can expect every weekend devoted to this until her arrival, and then every weekend after that devoted to her.

Yesterday, I organized the new den and the nursery. This included running errands with Dustin, ironing and hemming curtains, putting together the play mat, the rock and play sleeper, etc. By the end of the day, my body had had enough! Despite that, I woke up and then assembled this adorable rocking horse.

It's certainly not a necessary baby item, but I couldn't resist adding it to the registry. I was so excited to see it arrive in the mail from Uncle Paul & Jill!

We also moved the rocker to the den. It's in a perfect spot, right by the window. G, of course, is taking full advantage.

47/365: Another Blanket of Snow

We woke up to another blanket of snow this morning, exactly like the snow fall earlier this week. The roads were clear, but every single branch and bush was painted with perfectly white snow.

46/365: Farm Friday

This farm isn't one I pass and gawk at the picturesque quality it holds. It's a huge farm with a ton of cows, and that's about it.

There are always a few cows right by the road, and I regularly chuckle at them because of how silly they are. They just have those faces.

When I passed them today, they were all sitting down. You know what that means... rain. I decided to turn around to grab a picture of them, but they all stood up to greet me as I walked up to the fence. Most of them seemed unhappy, but there was one that was just so curious and even a little bit cute.

Well, I think she's cute, anyway.

Happy Friday!

45/365: V-Day

It's funny to me how some days, it feels nearly impossible to get a picture of the day. It's like searching for a needle in a hay stack. Then, other days, the opportunities present themselves throughout the day. Typically, I'll choose one and share a runner up on a day like those, but today, you're getting several. It's a Valentine's Day story!

This morning, the area woke up to snow. Not the kind of snow that causes delays, or even snow that you can play in. It was just a wet blanket of beautiful snow. I got these shots right before I left work... by the way, I not only shot "up" at the landscape around my house because I love the trees against the sky, but because I don't want you to have to look at my neighbors' houses or roofs. It ruins the beauty of the photo :)

It was a morning that involved a lot of rushing, so that I could get to an early meeting. The entire ride to work was full of incredible photo opportunities, but I simply just didn't have time to stop. The snow was a blanket over everything; it was just spectacular. I could easily stew that I missed these shots, but instead, I'm glad I at least got the ones I did!

Of course, it's Valentine's Day. A day I'm actually not a huge fan of... I think it's 100% a Hallmark Holiday. However, it was the very first holiday Dustin and I ever shared together. Today was the 7th "first holiday" of our relationship. To celebrate, Dustin cooked me dinner.

He made salmon spinach fettuccine alfredo. Quite honestly, it doesn't look incredibly appetizing, does it? When I took the first bite, though.... WOW! Delicious! The flavors were so much more colorful than the actual dish.

After dinner, we sat in the living room and shared our cards. Neither of us go a day without reminding one another how much we love each other, but the cards are still so special to read and to have as a keep sake. I'm such a lucky lady and so is this little girl.

And, though I love every picture above this one, I give you the picture of the day:

And your picture of the day runner up:

Happy Valentine's Day!! I hope, no matter where you are or who you're with, that you saw the beauty in your day.

44/365: Cat's Outta the Bag

Or in the bag? Either way, Grayson is obsessed with spending time in bags and boxes. I caught him comfortably curled up in a Target bag this evening. Silly cat.

43/365: Tummy Tuesday

Today was a busy, wonderful Tuesday. I was very surprised to be showered by my incredible co-workers with even more baby things! There's nothing like a shower to humble you and overwhelm you with the  generosity of those around you. I'm very lucky to have so many amazing people in my life!

After the shower, I ran some errands (and rescheduled a dinner date with a friend!) and got home to an empty house due to my amazing husband working overtime. However, that of course left only me to unload the car! Long and short of it.... by the time I was in the door, I was (and still am) completely exhausted and still had to take my Tummy Tuesday picture.

I tried to take a few different shots and just couldn't get any that I really liked. I finally laid on the bed and tried a shot this way. A week or two ago, Dustin and I had our fabulous wedding photographer Isabel come to our home and take some gorgeous maternity photos. My picture of the day is an idea I got from her shoot. It's a sad excuse of a photograph next to her work, but it will work for the picture of the day!

Taking a self portrait with a 10 second timer, 8 1/2 week belly, jumping on and off the bed... well it's totally exhausting! It's hard to focus the image, get the composition you want and really, by the time I got on and off the bed 10 times, I truly didn't care if I got a good image. I was way too tired to keep going!

SO, with all of that said, I give you my Tummy Tuesday shot! I can't believe we get to meet this little girl in 6 weeks or less!

41/365: Morning Joe

They say to limit your caffeine when you're pregnant, and I do. Every morning, I look forward to my one tiny cup of coffee. Okay, so the actual mug is never tiny, but I never fill it completely nor drink the entire cup. Much to my surprise, this is plenty for me (coming from someone who could drink cups and cups of the darkest, thickest coffee there is!).

This Sunday morning, I woke up early, ate breakfast with my darling husband then poured my much anticipated coffee. I curled up in my huge chair in the living room to enjoy my cup and watch the sun come through the window. The sun was so intense that it really exaggerated the steam coming from my mug. I loved this, so I took a picture of it.

And so the picture of the day was found.... before 8:30 am!

As I was editing and perseverating over my hundreds of pictures, and starting my post for the day, I stopped to see how Dustin was making out (He's cleaning out the office to make it a den for our babe. He's so handy and wonderful!!). Of course when I pop into the room, the "kids" are being nothing but adorable. Thankfully my camera is another extension of my body, so I was able to capture them also!

40/365: Snowy Saturday

I'm always hesitant to post the picture of the day early; especially before noon, but I'm taking a leap of faith.

Considering Nemo made The World News, I'm assuming most of you reading this are aware of the storm that hit the east coast. We live right on the boarder of where the two storms collided, so it was nearly impossible for the meteorologists to determine how much snow would fall. No, we didn't get 12 inches, but we woke up to a beautiful snowy Saturday morning.

The sun rose in hiding this morning and as soon as it peaked through the clouds, I ran out to take some pictures. We're very fortunate to live where we do. Close to town, but on an acre of property covered with trees. Already, at day 40 in the project, I'm noticing how much I love taking pictures of branches against the sky with some sun burst in the background. When I started taking these shots, I realized I needed to take some of the actual snow!

After taking several pictures, it's hard to choose the picture. I chose this one because it truly captures the feeling of the morning: crisp, cold and still.

The runner up...

And a few more for your viewing pleasure...

The photo below is a complete blooper. It's way under exposed, but it turns out I love it. No, it has nothing to do with the snow, but I just love the sun and silhouettes!
