Today was a special Monday. As I nursed and snuggled Hannah this morning, happy tears streamed down my face. Our plans? To get dressed, play, head off to our mommy group, grocery shop, nap, bath, dinner, bed. This schedule is our usual Monday schedule, but today it was more special because if I weren't taking a leave from work, I would have spent the day pumping and putting "Hannah" on virtually everything she owns as I prepared her for her very first day of daycare.
I'm so incredibly thankful that I get to be home with my baby. Not a second goes by that I'm not elated and grateful that I get to be home. Even through the blow outs, exhaustion and crying fits, I'm so happy that I'm the one who gets to clean her diapers and sing her out of her crying.
(Let me add that this doesn't go without saying how amazing working moms are for their babies. We are amazing moms in all regards no matter if we're home or working!)
The picture(s) of the day are of Hannah and me. Check out her shirt! She loves girls' day with mommy!
I put my career on hold when our boys arrived and have never given that career a 2nd thought ... it's now been almost 10 yrs! I can't imagine having not stayed home with my babes. Enjoy every moment Erin! Lil' Hannah will grow up far too quickly! You'll never regret staying home!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing this Terri! It means so much :). What was your career before the best job ever (aka being a mommy)?
DeleteI have a BSc in Environmental Science and was working as a Range Agrologist and soil science. Being a Mom is way cooler! LOL! Besides, I can put those skills to work here on the farm. :)
DeleteHow cute are you two. Especially love the last one. Im sooo happy that your staying at home with Hannah. I just don't believe its "natural" to separate a baby and her Mama. Trust me there's no one else she wants now more then you.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree, Pam! I went back to work for 2 weeks and it simply didn't feel right handing her over for someone else to care for her. Albeit, it was our parents, which is the next best thing, but she needs her Mama! (and I need her!)
DeleteMy turn :).....I LOVE these shots, Erin. Really beautiful! I too stopped working full time when I had my kids. I was a paralegal in a law firm and worked Saturdays at the bank. I didn't want to leave my baby with anyone. It didn't make sense to me. Now they are big and it feels it went really fast. You are definitely very lucky to stay home with your baby! Enjoy!
